About Us

The Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (MTEST) has embarked on a new initiative, the “ website” and this is managed by the National Training Agency (NTA).

The NTA operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training and it is the central coordinating body responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering the national training system for Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in support of the nation’s workforce development.

One of the organization’s strategic goals is to “develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication plan including the use of digital media”. The national skills bank offers residents of Trinidad and Tobago free access to an online inventory of local certified skilled persons in technical and vocational occupational areas.

Anyone with internet access that is in need of a plumber, electrician, auto mechanic or any technical and vocational professional would be able to conduct an online research to find, compare and contact service providers rated as dependable by other users. The database would include service providers who were awarded Trinidad and Tobago National Vocational Qualifications (TTNVQs) or Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQs).

The skills bank would therefore assist the general consumer in reducing the guesswork and word-of-mouth recommendation required when hiring, as it allows for consumers to base their selection on feedback from a wider cross section of persons. The website also gives the customer the opportunity to report on their experience with the provider and post good reviews on jobs well done or express their dissatisfaction. This feedback could include the type of work done, cost, professionalism, timeliness or general feedback.
